  • Did you know that research experience is critical preparation for graduate school?
  • Did you know you can present your research at local or national science meetings?
  • Did you know there is a community of students at UMass Boston interested in becoming biomedical researchers?
  • Did you know there are extra resources to help you succeed in your coursework and apply successfully to graduate schools?
  • Did you know that there is a program right on this campus that can help you to do all of these things?
The Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) at UMass Boston is an NIH-funded training program for undergraduates who want to pursue graduate studies at the PhD level, in order to enter a career in biomedical research. The program has rolling admissions – applications are reviewed as they are completed and new students appointed as slots become available. Whether or not you are funded by IMSD, we welcome you to participate in our program and become part of our research community. IMSD sponsors many activities and events that are open to every student at UMB interested in research careers, and you are welcome to attend.  In addition to creating and maintaining this blog, all announcements for IMSD-related events can be found on our IMSD Facebook page or the IMSD Events calendar page.
If you would like to apply to IMSD, please find the application on our website.
